Scottie Scheffler was named PGA Player of the Year

The 26-year-old American won his first Grand Slam at the Masters and scored another four victories on the American tour, more than anyone else during the 2021-22 season.

The award is voted on by fellow PGA Tour members, with Scheffler, who is also the 2020 Rookie of the Year, garnering 89% of the vote.

“On behalf of the PGA TOUR, I congratulate Scottie on his remarkable season and unprecedented accomplishments. Without a doubt, one of the greatest compliments a player can receive is the endorsement of his peers,” said by Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan.

McIlroy also had a stellar season, winning his third FedEx Cup title, while Australia’s Smith won his first British Grand Slam before bowing out of the Saudi-backed LIV Golf Invitational Series.
