Monaco turned Lyon’s week into black

Chilean Guillermo Maripán celebrated his hundredth game with Monaco with a goal that led his team to victory at the Luis II stadium against Lyon (2-1), in the match that completed the seventh day of Ligue 1 where he led the Paris St. Germaine.

The South American secured a second straight win for Philipoe Clement’s side, putting their start to the season on track in the French competition as Lyon declined.

The rivalry was not resolved until the second half, with the decisive contribution, also, of the Brazilian Caio Henrique who provided two assists. It was in the 55th minute when Benoit Badiashile took advantage of the ball received from the South American to beat Anthony Lopes for the first time.

Maripan came second. Past game time. It was a free kick executed in the area by Caio Henrique that the Chilean central defender headed towards the net, which three minutes later, in the 68th minute, was replaced by Malang Sarr.

Monaco added a second consecutive victory and seventh, two points behind fifth-placed Lyon, who marked the European zone and suffered another setback after Wednesday’s defeat against Lorient.
