With his first Grand Slam and number one under his arm Carlos Alcaraz heads to Spain to face a new challenge in the competitionthe group stage of the Davis Cup Finals will be played from Tuesday to Sunday in Valencia.
A new challenge for the main Spanish tennis racket traveling to Spain on a private flight from New York. He is set to go to Valencia on Tuesday to join Sergi Bruguera’s team that since Sunday has been preparing its presentation in the Davis Cup.
Alcaraz will join the team that forms Roberto Bautista, Albert Ramos who replaced Alejandro Davidovich, Pedro Martínez and Marcel Granollers which has already contacted the track of the Municipal Pavilion of the Fountain of San Luis.
Spain will make their debut against Serbia on Wednesday although Alcaraz is expected to miss out of confrontation to gain recovery time after two intense weeks at the US Open and to fully adapt to the time change compared to New York.
The youngest number one in history will be fit for the second round of the Spanish team, on Friday against Canada. Navy will complete their participation in this group stage on Sunday against South Korea.
The top two finishers from each of the four venues -Glasgow, Hamburg, Bologna and Valencia- will qualify for the Davis Cup finals to be held in Malaga in November.
