Ecuador could be kicked out of the World Cup because of a false certificate, according to the tabloid

Date:

The soccer team of Ecuador can be expelled from Qatar World Cup 2022 before new evidence that one of his soccer players used a false birth certificate, British tabloid ‘Daily Mail’ confirmed on Monday.

The diary details that the “extraordinary revelation” precedes the FIFA Appeals Committee made a decision this week on the matter, which could affect the Ecuadorian team’s participation in Qatar.

The ‘Daily Mail’ has published a recording of what it says is a conversation between the footballer Byron Castillo and investigators from the Ecuadorian Football Federation (FEF) who looked into his case in 2018.

In the audio, the athlete “clearly states that he was born in 1995, not 1998, as it says on his Ecuadorian birth certificate,” the British newspaper recounted.

The soccer player gave his full name as Bayron Javier Castillo Segura, which matches his Colombian birth certificate, not the Ecuadorian one, where he was identified as Byron David Castillo Seguraaccording to the ‘Daily Mail’.

It also “describes in detail how he left the Colombian city of Tumaco to go to San Lorenzo, in Ecuador, to try to carve a career in football” and “name the Ecuadorian businessmen who got him a new identity,” he added.

At the same time, the newspaper publishes a letter detailing the conclusions reached by the federation after those investigations.

The letter states that Castillo is a Colombian citizen who was born in Tumaco on nineteen ninety five and added that there was recorded evidence of the player’s “confession”.

Despite this, the FEF officially determined in 2019 that Castillo is an Ecuadorian citizen, added the ‘Daily Mail’, ensuring that Castillo “He admitted that he was using a false passport and that the Ecuadorian federation had hidden it.”
