Santi Mina will appear via videoconference from Saudi Arabia

Date:

Football player Santi Minawho was sentenced to four years in prison for sexual abuse, will intervene this Friday from Saudi Arabia via videoconference in a prison admission hearing requested by the private prosecution to be held in the Third Section of the Provincial Court of Almeria.

As explained by Superior Court of Justice of Andalusia (TSJA)the Court agreed that there was no need to travel from Saudi Arabia, because he recently joined the ranks of Al-Shabaaba team whose coach is Spanish Vincent Moreno.

The high court specified that the session will be held at ten o’clock in the morning behind closed doors, because “this is not a public action and the representative of Ministry of finance and the lawyers for the prosecution and defense”.

The TSJA He also recalled that the court has not yet resolved the clarification of the sentence requested by the lawyer defending the convicted footballer.

Once this matter is resolved, a term will be granted to, if it deems appropriate, file an appeal with Civil and Criminal Chamber of the Superior Court of Justice of Andalusia.

The Provincial Court was summoned on Thursday of last week to appear before the Third Section in a hearing set by the Criminal Procedure Law, to be held at the request of the victim’s lawyer, although this appearance was postponed until tomorrow.

The victim’s lawyer Ivan Bolanoexplained to EFE that despite the conviction, his entry into prison was not requested until the appeals against the sentence were resolved, until it was known that the footballer will play in the 2022/23 season in the team Al Shabab from Saudi Arabia.

“You’re not only leaving the country four months after the conviction, but you’re going to a country where women’s rights are severely undermined and almost non-existent, and it doesn’t have an extradition treaty with the spain”said the lawyer.
