A man was supposed to file a complaint against the former goalkeeper of Real Madrid and PSG this Wednesday at the prosecutor’s office of Versailles (France). Keylor Navas (37), after working for almost two years as a ‘handyman’ for the Costa Rican goalkeeper without a work contract, according to ‘BFMTV’.
The complainant worked for 20 months as an assistant and maintenance person since September 2019. Keylor Navas required him to be armed and this caused him to constantly fear for his safety. Contacted by ‘BFMTV’, the man said he worked at least 60 hours a week for a monthly salary of 3,200 euros paid in cash, without being subject to a pre-employment declaration, or taxes, and even less than a payroll file.
As she explained, he made her live in a basement, damp and windowless. A video he recorded shows an argument with Keylor Navas in which he asks him to fix his situation. “Here, we don’t work under French laws and there’s no French contract, I pay you in cash, we work according to my rules,” the doorman told him. The former employee said that Keylor Navas promised to give him an employment contract but did not keep it. He explained that his hiring was conditional on being armed – he had a shooting license – and left a shotgun, a category C weapon, at Navas’ house.
Kelyor Navas used that weapon in his garden, sometimes in the middle of the night. A video shows the Parisian guard holding the rifle and shooting it. “He used the shotgun I had,” the complainant confessed. “Sometimes, he shoots like that on his property, just to please himself or show his friends.”
