Dusan Lajović scored the first point for the Serbian team led by Viktor Troicki in the group stage of Davis cup in Valenciaby losing this Thursday to South Korean Seong-Chan Hong (6-4 and 6-0).
After a cautious start, Lajovic began to show good tennis on the La Fonteta court with good serves and drop shots to win three games in a row in which Hong made many mistakes, with a version that was almost unlike showed on the first day against the Canadian Vasek Pospisil.
Hong tried to surprise Lajovic, but he couldn’t answer the execution. However, the Asian got into the match thanks to a number of unforced errors by the Serb, who had to come back from 0-40 down on serve to win the first set 6-4, after an hour.
The second set was a mere formality for Lajovic, who defeated a deflated Hong in a convincing 6-0 to earn the first point for Serbia after Wednesday’s day, in which she lost all three games against Spain.
