Recently promoted Lecce, who went into the day fourth from bottom of Serie A, one point from relegation, took a breather this Friday in earning a 1-2 victory at home to Salernitana, 10th and that in their previous match they drew, 2-2, against Juventus.
It was Assan Ceesa who, taking advantage of the ball from Morten Hjulmand, put Lecce ahead on the stroke of half-time, in the 43rd minute. The joy of Marco Baroni’s team suffered a blow when the former Barcelona academy player Joan González scored an own goal in a corner at 55′.
But in 83′ Gabriel Strefezza, assisted by Antonino Gallo on the limit, beat Sepe and scored a goal worth gold for Lecce and sinking Davide Nicola’s Salernitana. Thanks to this victory, Lecce rose to 14th place in the Serie A table and moved 4 points away from relegation.
