Celtic lost the Premier League 364 days later

Date:

Celtic, Real Madrid’s Champions League rivals, went down at The SMISA Stadium in Paisley against St. Mirren (2-0), in what was their first defeat in the Scottish Premier League in a year, although they maintained their lead with a two-point advantage over their eternal rivals, Rangers.

Australian Ange Postecolglou’s team, which changed half of the team compared to the one that drew on Wednesday in the Champions League against Shakhtar Donetsk, fell to St. Mirren on the seventh day of the Premier.

Local manager Stephen Robinson finally beat Celtic. For the first time after fifteen matches in charge of different teams, the current coach of St. Mirren is the champion.

First win since 2010

The first win of St. Mirren’s first against Celtic since 2010 came on the stroke of half-time, Ryan Strain’s cross headed in by Mark O’Hara. At the start of the second half it was Kenyan Jonah Ayunga who sealed the historic local victory after receiving the ball from Curtis Main.

Celtic’s defeat came after 364 days unbeaten in the Scottish Premiership. He is one of the year without defeat since he fell in his visit to Livingston (1-0) on October 19, 2021. However, after seven games, he is still the leader with two rent points against Rangers, who won on Saturday against Dundee United (2-1), and six against St. Mirren.
