The boat ‘Nadir’ (Swan 42) of Balearic shipowner Pedro Vaquer (CVPA) has won the Rolex Swan Cup, the pinnacle of the regatta season in the Mediterranean and the most important celebration of the year for the Swan family’s sailing boats, which last week brought the whole Nautor community together for six days of competition on the Costa Smeralda in an exciting sailing festival, which also featured ‘Pez de Abril’, a boat sailing for the Club Náutico Portmán and led by José María Meseguer , who finished the game in fourth place. Second and third were respectively the ‘Selene’ of the Italian Massimo di Campo and the ‘Dralion’ of the German Pit Finis.
Meseguer (September 10, 1963) combines major titles in regattas with his company Cristóbal Meseguer SA, product packaging. He started sailing at the age of 40, after taking an introductory course in light sailing.
‘Pez de Abril’ was the only boat from the Murcia region to start in this prestigious nautical event. His participation had great moments. On the second day, he managed to win the first round and take the provisional third place. The overall victory went to ‘Nadir’, who also won the Copa del Rey Mapfre this summer.
As always, glamorous Porto Cervo, located in the heart of the Costa Smeralda, was the venue for the Rolex Cup, a biannual event for Swan boats, with an entry list of 90 units from around the world.
The Costa Smeralda is considered a paradise for sailing. Located in the far northeast of Sardinia, the racecourse stretches from Porto Cervo to the La Maddalena archipelago, a spectacular setting dotted with rocks, coves and islets that present all kinds of challenges for navigation. The venue for the event is the YCCS, founded in 1967 by the Aga Khan and recognized as one of the most exclusive yacht clubs in the world.
