Pandev, North Macedonia and Serie A legend, retired at 39

Goran Pandev, all-time top scorer for the North Macedonia national team (38 goals in 122 games) and Serie A legend, announced this Thursday, at the age of 39, that he will retire as a player.

“It’s unbelievable, it’s an incredible adventure. A good chapter has ended”, the striker wrote on Instagram. ” I carry a baggage of emotions. I am happy with everything I have shared with you”, he added in his message to fans.

Pandev, who arrived at Inter at 18 and shared the treble with José Mourinho in 2009-10, when the Negriazules won the Champions League, Serie A and Coppa Italia, he built almost his entire career in Italy and also played for Lazio, Naples, Genoa and Parma (his last team). He also PLAYED for Galatasaray.

Serie A and North Macedonia legend Pandev, also the most capped player for that team, he has been without a team since the end of last season. He led his team to Euro 2020 in 2021, North Macedonia’s first major tournament, by scoring the game-winning playoff goal against Georgia.
