The WBC Heavyweight World Champion Tyson Furycanceled his proposal for the battle called ‘The Battle of Britain’ in Anthony Joshuaclaiming that his compatriot had not signed a contract before Monday’s deadline.
Fury challenged Joshua last month, saying he would come out of retirement to defend his title in December, a challenge Joshua accepted.
Joshua’s promoters 258 Management and Matchroom Boxing said they “accepted all the terms presented to us by Fury’s team”, but agreed to suspend all communications due to the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
“It’s official, D-Day has come and gone,” Fury said on Instagram Monday. “There is no contract signed. It’s officially over for Joshua. He’s out now… Forget about him. I’ve always known. Regardless of what… you say now, I really don’t care. Good luck with your career and your life. The end.”
Joshua, 32, suffered a second straight loss to the Ukrainian Oleksandr Usykthe WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO champion, in a title rematch that took place in Saudi Arabia last month, and said he wants to get back in the ring before the end of the year.
When Fury challenged Joshua, the champion also said he would choose another opponent if his fellow Brit was not interested in the fight.
Usyk said after the fight in Jeddah that he was only interested in fighting Fury, but the media said he would not fight again this year so he could rest and be with his family.
