The 90K Camino de la Cruz race, which celebrates its V edition next Saturday, October 1, opens entry to Caravaca de la Cruz this year, registering a record number of entries, with a total of 1,500 runners divided into three modalities: 90K, 42K and 21K.

The runners will reach the city through the new access that crosses the San Jerónimo ravine that connects to the old part of the city, according to the director of the Institute of Tourism (Itrem), Juan Francisco Martínez, during the presentation of the event . This mention, he recalls, “was made possible last May as part of the process of improving and conditioning the Way of the Cross promoted by the Foundation of the Cross to promote the Jubilee Year 2024.”

In addition, another novelty of this edition is that the finish of the race this time will be in the Gran Vía de Caravaca. The start in Bullas of the half marathon (21K), will be held for the first time in the evening (6 pm) to avoid the hottest hours of the day and thus share the route with the participants of the rest of the distances.

Martínez recalled that “the 90K is one of the most important sporting events on the annual calendar of the region, promoting the Camino de Levante not only as a pilgrimage route, but also as a pilgrimage route and highlighting the natural, landscape and cultural richness of the region.” . municipalities it passes through”.

The award ceremony was also attended by the Mayor of Caravaca de la Cruz, José Francisco García; the Secretary of the 90K Sports Association, Miguel Sánchez, and the Big Brother of the Royal and Illustrious Brotherhood of Vera Cruz, Luis Melgarejo, representing the board of trustees of the Camino de la Cruz Foundation.
