The first and second stages will take place entirely in the Abruzzo region, the third, which will start in the municipality of Vasto, will head south, while the seventh will return to Abruzzo and end at 2,135 meters of Gran Sasso d’Italia (Field Imperatorea massif of the Apennine mountains).

To whet your appetite, there will be an individual time trial of 18.4 km at Costa dei Trabocchibecause Fossacesia Marina (almost entirely along the bike lane, built taking advantage of an old railway line) in orthone, a proposal that excited the Italian runner Dario Cataldo (Trek-Segafredo), present at the presentation. “I am excited about the idea of ​​the Grande Partenza del Giro from the Abruzzos. It is a dream come true, especially about the prologue on the Costa dei Trabocchi. I remember very well that when the cycle path project was born and I saw what I first imagined the beauty of a Giro d’Italia passing the route. It looks perfect”, said the local cyclist, a dream that next year will come true.

The second stage will be ideal for the sprinters and will take the peloton of Teramo to San Salvo. The following day, the caravan will bid farewell to Abruzzo with a stage that will start from Vasto towards the south, before returning to the territory on Friday, May 12 with a seventh stage that will end in Great Sasso d’Italia (Campo Imperatore).
