Englishman Mansell, close to his first Circuit victory in St. Andrews

Date:

English Richard Mansellwith an advantage of four strokes, after a third trip with a 67 (five under par), giving him a cumulative score of 201 (-15), is close to what could be his first title in DP World Tour (formerly European Circuit)and that, neither more nor less, can it be achieved in one of the most mythical courses in the world, the St Andrews Old Course.

The Liverpool-born 27-year-old has just one day left to be crowned in a prestigious tournament of Links by Alfred Dunhillwhich is played simultaneously on the Scottish courses of the Old Course, Kingsbarns and Carnoustie, and on Sunday, as is tradition, closes with the best 63 players playing their strokes at Saint Andrews.

Mansell, under the watchful eye of his girlfriend and his dog, left Carnoustie on Saturday with a two-shot lead over the Swede. alex noren, his immediate pursuer and facing the Old Course. Of course, unlike the infernal weather on Friday, the third day was kinder to the players, with clouds and sun, with wind.

At the end of the day, Mansell is more of a leader. Hence his four-stroke advantage, in the absence of the tour, over Noren himself (69 strokes this Saturday), which keeps him tied for second place now with the Englishman daniel gavins (67) and the New Zealander Ryan Fox (65), make him a strong favorite to bring out his record of victories on the Circuit.

Mansell was almost perfect, handling the pressure. He made six birdies and one bogey (just three in three days). Noren, for his part, ended up with a 69 (-3), with five birdies and two bogeys.

The quality of the Northern Irishman was finally seen Rory McIlroynumber 2 in the world, and signed a card with 66 hits (-6), which brought him to a total of 209 (-7) but far from the lead.

Sebas Garcia, best Spanish

Of the Spaniards, the best is now Sebastian Garcia, that at Carnoustie he showed an impressive trip with 68 hits (-4), for a total of 209 (-7) which put him in a very shared position in tenth position.

Alexander Canizares sum 211 (-5), after 70 of the third tour. They shined this Saturday adri arnaus (66) and Jorge Campillo (66), with cumulative scores of 213 and 215 (-1), respectively. They are still very low in the ranking.

Instead, he punched Nacho Elvirawith 75 (+3), dropping him in the classification with a total of 215, narrowly missing the access cut until the last day.
