The MotoGP World Championship came to Thailand at the end of the rainy season and therefore it was thought that from day one it was time to ride on the water. But they found that until the day of the race the water had not come and when it did, it was flowing. This completely affected the Moto2 race, canceled after eight laps, and forced the start of the MotoGP race to be delayed. The start was finally given and Pecco Bagnaia changed his face. The 2022 rain king, Miguel Oliveira, won ahead of Jack Miller and his third almost earned him the title.

In the water, the Quartararo-Yamaha duo sank again, 17th and without points, and the Ducatista is now 2 points behind the Frenchman in the table, with Aleix Espargaró now 20 after being eleventh. Marc Márquez reached the podium with his fingertips, he overtook Bagnaia at turn 12 but did not consolidate and finished fifth.
The organization missed the incomparable Rara Istiati Wulandari who saved Mandalika’s race with his anti-rain ritual, gold bowl in hand and chanting pitlane up and pitlane down spells. This Sunday they just crossed paths and delayed the start of the race by 55 minutes. The race was completely dynamited, a grid consisting of a dry timed with many people lost for the wet conditions, the first time all weekend that they rolled in the wet.
After going around the track a few times before the formation of the grid, conversations began between the pilots, with Aleix Espargaró taking the initiative that the visibility conditions were very low and he explained this to Capirossi, the Director of MotoGP Safety Commission, but for those who don’t risk clearing Turn 4, they take it for granted.

Marc Márquez quickly jumped from eighth to fifth at the start and the four Ducatis of Bezzecchi, Bagnaia, Miller and Martín remained in the lead, with Quartararo already relegated to 17th place after a scare at a kerbing . Bezzecchi, who went wide at the first stop, had to surrender the lead to Miller who got past Bagnaia.

KTM safe value in water
On the water, the KTM was a safe value and an incident between Aleix Espargaró and Brad Binder reduced the South African -Aleix Espargaró received a long lap penalty losing four places, from 10th to 14th , but his team-mate Oliveira, who had already capitalized on Mandalika by winning the wet race, was third four laps after leaving Bagnaia. Two laps later he was second after passing Bezzecchi with Miller six tenths ahead. The great comeback of the day was starred by Alex Márquez who in six laps had gone from 20th on the grid to seventh and a few laps later the Márquezes were fourth Marc and fifth Alex.

On the ninth lap, Oliveira sent the first warning to Miller, who could barely keep the initiative and they continued like this from time to time, running parallel on the straight. Behind them Pecco Bagnaia maintained third place allowing him to close within two points of Quartararo in the standings. But on tour it was Marc Márquez who was the fastest rider on the track midway through the race.
Oliveira leads with 12
With 12 to go, Oliveira had put together an overtake on Miller and Márquez had moved seven tenths behind Bagnaia who dropped to half a second, nine from the end with parts of the track already developing dry lane. With 6 remaining in the classic turn 12, Marc passed Bagnaia, but the Italian recovered when Zarco jumped over them and the Frenchman overtook the rider from Cervera a lap later to act as bodyguard for the official rider of Ducati. It was the swan song for the Repsol Honda rider who saw his chance of a podium slip away and his top-5 finish was dismissed.

Quartararo was always out of the points
While Bagnaia is fighting for third place up front, Quartararo is fighting Crutchlow for 17th position, the race leader is always out of the points and has no options or even scratch one if they don’t began to fall ahead. It was strange because in the Mandalika race he finished second after Oliveira and here he finished in 34″072. The top-11 was the limit for Aleix Espargaró, who reduced Quartararo by five points.
As for the remaining Spaniards, Alex Márquez is seventh, Maverick Viñales is eighth, Aleix Espargaró 11th, Alex Rins 13th, Pol Espargaró 14th, Raúl Fernández 15th.
