3-0: Arsenal also dominate Europe without their starters

Date:

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal today extended their extraordinary start to the season with their predictable victory over Bodö/Glimt (3-0) which allowed them to be thrown from the top of group A of the Europa League. A first place adding to the one he also holds in the Premier League.

With their match against PSV set to be played on October 20 after being postponed due to the death of Queen Elizabeth II, Arsenal have 6 points after winning their two games, while PSV, who beat Zurich 1-5 today, and Bodö/Glimt, the latter with three games already, followed with 4. Zurich is yet to score.

Only three in the eleven of the derby against Tottenham

Arteta has almost all his starters allocated and only three of them (Gabriel Magalhaes, Granit Xhaka and Gabriel Martinelli) repeated about the starting eleven of the derby that Arsenal beat Tottenham on Saturday (3-1).

The ‘gunners’ performance did not suffer in the near perfect first half where the game was judged.

On the beat of Fabio Vieira

In a fast and fluid game, led by the quality of the youngster Fabio Vieira, Arsenal entertained their fans and came under continuous siege with a Bödo/Glimt that they hardly let go of their plot in the first 45 minutes.

Fabio Vieita scored in the opening moments from a ball denied by the defense after a good run by Kieran Tierney, but the Portuguese’s shot from close range was tipped over the crossbar (9′).

Two goals in four minutes

Chances followed each other in the Norwegian area until Arsenal opened the scoring in the 23rd minute. Martinelli, who had delayed his position today, led a counterattack with class before turning on Tierney on the left, whose whiplash was deflected by the post. The rejection fell to Eddie Nketiah, who scored at will into an empty net.

Four minutes later, it was 2-0 with a measured Fabio Viera cross that central defender Rob Holding headed into the net with an uninspiring shot.

Bodö/Glimt reacted

Arsenal’s overwhelming dominance in the first half was broken after the break as Bodö/Glimt finally managed to break down the attack and grow into their game. However, the ‘gunners’ did not see victory in danger at any time and even increased the score in one of the few comings in the second half.

Great game by Gabriel Jesus at 3-0

A goal in the 85th minute that was worth paying for a ticket to the Emirates. Gabriel Jesus, who came on for Martinelli at game time, starred in a great play on the baseline, leaving one rival with a spin and another with a superb cut before giving up behind to Fabio Vieira ended his great performance with the closing marker.
