Sergio Ramos suffered his second relegation in French football since joining PSG from Real Madrid in the summer of 2021. The Andalusian central defender received a red card in the match between the Ligue 1 champions against Òscar Garcia’s Reims in Auguste Delaune stadium.
With the score 0-0, referee Pierre Gaillouste signaled a foul on Marco Verratti and Sergio Ramos received the first yellow card despite the fact that his teammate brought down the rival. The former Madrid player pressed his complaints and seconds later saw a straight red card, presumably for directing insulting words at the referee.
According to Canal Plus France, Sergio Ramos told the referee in Spanish “why give me a yellow card? The fucking mother” and Gaillouste interpreted it as insulting him.
Sergio Ramos and his teammates reacted angrily to the decision, they surrounded the referee but he was unyielding. Verratti also saw a yellow card, one of the most angry.
Ramos was sent off for the first time in Ligue 1 in a Lorient-PSG match on December 22, seeing two yellow cards in just five minutes.

According to Mister Chip, Sergio Ramos was sent off 29 times in his career in 973 official matches played, but never with the Spanish team in 194 games, including in the lower categories.
