Ruth Chepngetich, second best woman’s marathon score

the kenyan Ruth Chepngetich this Sunday revalidated his crown at chicago marathonby prevailing in a dominant performance that allowed him to achieve his personal best, the second of all time, and left him fourteen seconds from the world record.

Chepngetich crossed the finish line two hours, fourteen minutes and 18 secondswith more than four minutes ahead of the American emily sisonwhich set the American record (2.18.30).

The Kenyan athlete dominated the race from start to finish and reached the final meters with options still in place to seal the world record, but her strong final effort was not enough to overtake her compatriot Brigid Kosgei in the best time ever: 2h.14 ’04”.

Chepngetich, whose best time was 2:17.08, beat the British time of 2:15.25 Paula Radcliffe and his countryman’s 2:17.01 Mary Jepkosgei Keitany.
