The W Series will not finish the season due to running out of funds

At the back of Singapore Grand Prix, rumors began to spread that the WSeries they were unable to finalize a deal with one of their investors and that championship was in jeopardy. Last Monday the bad news was confirmed and through a statement they made it official that the races of United States and Mexico will not be celebrated due to lack of financial support.

“This decision was made to focus on the long-term fundraising process. to enable safety and ensure financial health by 2023 and the years to come. For this reason, we are allowing cost reductions by canceling races in Austin and Mexico City,” the statement explained.

So far a total of seven races have been held and the minimum to declare the championship valid is six. Despite the very bad news for the championship, Bond assures that “we remain positive for the long-term future of the W Series“. Negotiations with new investors are ongoing but nothing has been closed yet. “Although we are not yet in a position to make a formal announcement, there are lots of positive ongoing conversations And all parties share our passion and belief in our mission to give our incredible female drivers a platform to showcase their talent and race in front of passionate fans around the world.”
