The American Keegan Bradley sealed his first win on the PGA Tour in four years with success by a distance stroke in Zozo Championship in Chiba, Japan. It was after a final lap in which Rickie Fowler, the former leader, suffered greatly.
Bradley closed with a 2-under 68, 15-under overall, to lead his countrymen Fowler and Andrew Putnamwho shared second place on a roaring day of action.
Fowler he reached the fourth round at Narashino Country Club at 14-under with a one-shot lead over Bradley and two shots over Putnam, but failed to end a three-year drought without a PGA title in the tour’s only event. which is disputed in Japan.
The trio led at various stages on Sunday, but Bradley went two up with a 20-foot birdie putt on the 11th hole. Bradley broke away in 17th and held his nerve on the 18th to seal his victory.
Fowler’s hopes of a sixth PGA Tour victory were dashed when he bogeyed the 15th and missed a birdie putt on the 16th. His reaction on the 18th earned him second place, but it was too late to secure the victory.
