The Spanish organizers shine especially in the cross-country, with nine trials (Zornoza, Soria, San Sebastián, Atapuerca, Itálica, Alcobendas, Venta de Baños, Elgoibar and Cáceres) of the 22 World Athletics Cross Country Tour held in world
No other country comes close to that figure, with Italy and Belgium following in that section with three. Continuing, Spain also led the organization of the World Athletics Race Walking Tour competitions with four events (the Spanish Championships of 20 km in Pamplona and 35 km in Lepe, the Madrid Marcha LaLiga International GP and the Cantones de La Coruña International GP) of the 23 that make up the global calendar.
Of the 21 competitions, one, the Madrid meeting, is part of the World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold, the highest level in indoor track events; and another, the international competition of Arona, is part of the World Athletics Combined Events Tour Gold as one of the six most prestigious combined meetings in the world.
The remaining six competitions belong to the World Athletics Continental Tour of outdoor rallies, with the meeting in Madrid in the silver category in the head; the Ibero-American Meeting in Huelva and the one in Jaén Paraíso Interior at the bronze level and the Antonio Cansino Memorial International Meeting in Castellón, the International City Meeting in Barcelona and the one in Ordizia labeled “Challenger”.
According to the score, Madrid is ninth out of 18 in its category (82,339 pts)Huelva is fifth with 53 (81,335 pts) and Castellón is fifth with 67 (80,569 pts).
