The second stage of the Andalusia Rally, the fourth and final valid test for the World Championship in the ‘Cross Country’ modality of the FIA and FIM, was canceled this Friday due to bad weather conditions in the province of Malaga at the scheduled time for the -career development.
The organization issued a statement stating that “bad weather conditions make it impossible to guarantee a safe race” on the planned route through the Guadalhorce valley and the Antequera region, over 228 hour kilometers, due to rain and fog.
The statement stated that the organization “went on as long as possible” before canceling the stage, but ultimately made that decision.
The general classification, after the preliminary stage (Wednesday) and the first (Thursday), continues to be led in the main categories by the French Adrian Van Beveren (Honda), on motorcycles; and Qatari Nasser Al-Attiyah (Toyota Gazoo Racing), in cars.
This Saturday sees the fourth day of a competition that will be held until Sunday with the Sevillian town of Dos Hermanas as the base.
This fourth and final day will take place over 473 kilometers (333 hours) in the county of Huelva, “barring more meteorological complications,” the statement clarified.
The Andalusia Rally was originally scheduled for last June, but was moved to October due to the risk of forest fires due to the extreme heat at the time.
