Haaland imposed his law with a brace against Brighton

Date:

Liverpool stopped him last week, but Erling Haaland has started his scoring machine. The Norwegian star scored a brace in Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City’s victory over Brighton (3-1), with the current ‘scorer’ having already scored 17 goals after playing in the first 12 days of the Premier League.

City, second in the English championship, are a point behind the leaders, Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, who visit Southampton on Sunday. Despite the fact that Roberto de Zerbi’s team approached the game without complications and played good football, Haaland’s law was fulfilled again.

Indeed, Brighton, who have not won since De Zerbi replaced Graham Potter, started the match strongly, putting pressure on their strong rivals.

However, on 22′ time Haaland, picking up the ball sent to him by Ederson, raced past Brighton goalkeeper Robert Sánchez from his pair and scored to put City ahead.

The second came in minute 43 and from a penalty. Joao Cancelo and Bernardo Silva made good plays and the Portuguese had Lewis Dunk asking him for a penalty, but referee Craig Pawson dismissed it. However, after almost two minutes, VAR referee Lee Mason cautioned Pawson, who, after reviewing the action, awarded the maximum penalty. Haaland changed him.

Despite how difficult the match was, Brighton did not give up on achieving at least a draw and played well, with good combinations. And in minute 53, with a heavy right foot Leandro Trossard, assisted by Solly March, beat Ederson. Trossard himself had a good chance.

In the 72nd minute, Haaland shot high, but failed to connect the ball between the three posts. City closed the match thanks to a great goal from Kevin de Bruyne, after play from Bernardo Silva. Robert Sánchez was unable to stop the goal and, after the defeat against Liverpool, City are back on the winning track.
