Date:

Spain will seek its seventh ‘Salad Bowl’, and will do so with the highest guarantee. Sergi Bruguera announced this Monday that he will join Carlos Alcaraz, Pablo Carreño, Roberto Bautista and Marcel Granollers for the final stage of the Davis Cup which will be held from November 22 to 27 in Malaga.

Is about four of the five players who, along with Alejandro Davidovich, the captain called up in September for the group stage played in Valencia. On that occasion, however, Carreño and Davidovich both lost to injury and were replaced by Albert Ramos and Pedro Martínez.

At this moment Bruguera will wait until days before the competition begins to select the fifth member of the teamwhich “will depend on the state of form they show in the final stage of the season.”

As expected, in the list where Rafa Nadal does not appearwho did not enter the two previous calls, something the Mallorcan had already agreed to earlier this year with the captain.

Spain will face Croatia in the quarterfinal tie on Wednesday, November 23 (4:00 pm), that will have Marin Cilic, Borna Coric, Borna Gojo, Mate Pavic and Nikola Mektic, and in the semifinals (Friday 25 – 4pm) they will face the winner of the match between the Netherlands and Australia.

On the other side of the draw, the winners of the quarter-finals will play for a place in Sunday’s final Italy-United States and Germany-Canada.

The trajectory of the team captained by Sergi Bruguera in this edition of the Davis Cup began in March with the victory in Marbella against Romania (3-1) in the previous tie. Just in September, Spain advanced to the group stage after defeating Serbia and Korea and losing to Canadawhich is classified as secondary.
