Shapovalov knocks Fritz out of ATP Finals

These initial mistakes of the American, who is closing in the top 10 in the world ranking, materialized in a devastating 6-1 advantage for Shapovalov, nineteenth in the world ranking, where he served three times.

In the second set, Fritz showed character against the Canadian in an aggressive exchange of blows, where he took the initiative and managed to force a tiebreaker with a score of 6-4.

After 1 hour and 23 minutes of the match, pain in his right leg forced Fritz to stop for a few minutes, but he resumed the third set with apparent normality after receiving treatment.

Shapovalov edged Fritz in the final set 6-3, limiting his options going into the ATP Finalsin the absence of the Paris Masters 1000.

In the semifinals, the Canadian will face Daniel Evans, who swept Russian Karen Kachanov on Wednesday in the doubles 6-2.
