The man from Malaga has been the sports director of Chivas de Guadalajara for a few days, a Mexican club that Athletic will face in San Mamés on December 11 as a prelude to the celebrations of the 125th anniversary of the creation of the Bilbao institution.
“When they called me what I was happy about was the project because they do a lot in the lower categories and that’s what I did in the Spanish federation. This club has 40 million followers, 35 in Mexico, and has a sustainable project and great fans behind it. I hope so much. They were one of those projects that when the president, a 35-year-old man, explained to me, I said I have to try it. We played two championships, Apertura and Clausura, everything was very fast, and I think it’s a nice challenge because of the way we compete”.
