Since the responsible municipality forgot to allocate the winter service in time, Bad Ischl (Upper Austria) will not have one if winter tires become mandatory! Even though the temperatures are still very mild at the moment, the tension in the Imperial City is high.
Embarrassing, embarrassing – Bad Ischl just can’t get a rest! Because despite the timely tendering of the winter service and the timely receipt of the offers from the local carriers, the responsible FP municipal councilor Josef Loidl (FP) was unable to make the prices available to the city council within a few weeks.
“The bids opened on August 19 and the best bidder was determined on the same day – so the city council should have given the order within four weeks at the latest,” explains a councilor of the starting situation, adding: “The work should be done immediately after the first have started. If the omission has to be advertised again, the Ischl motorists will also be able to drive safely from 1 November.”
Own application rejected
Instead of arranging a new tender, Loidl and SP city manager Ines Schiller decided to submit the expired tenders to the city council for award. Insiders report that in a special meeting scheduled at short notice, the award to the best bidder “Maschinenring” should have gone ahead. As if the chaos surrounding the winter service tender wasn’t big enough, Schiller made a unique reversal on the day of the meeting: she asked the city council to reject her own application.
Which has the curious consequence that a standstill period of ten days must now be observed until a new tender can be issued. It is therefore clear that no winter service for Bad Ischl has been hired with the effectiveness of the winter tire obligation.
Concerned people from Ischl sound the alarm
Even if the current weather forecast for the next few days is good for the Imperial city, a few concerned residents of Ischl are still sounding the alarm: “You need to arrange an emergency service quickly and hire the local carriers just in case.”
