Bryan Gilsoccer player Tottenham Hotspurensured that his signing was failed by Valencia is “in the past” and now he is focused on the present, without thinking about what might happen in the next winter market.
The Spanish player played in the final part of the Champions League match between Tottenham and Sporting de Portugal on Wednesday and attended EFE in the mixed zone of the London stadium.
“It was the goal that gave us the classification…” said Gil remembering Harry Kane’s disallowed goal in the 96th minute of the match. “After five minutes reviewing the VAR, they canceled it… It’s incredible, but let’s trust the decision they made even if we don’t agree.”
Gil has played less than a minute in the Premier League this season, but he has minutes in three of five Champions League games.
“I work hard to give my best level, to do well when it’s my chance. This is the motivation I have, to improve every day and contribute as much as possible. In England it’s a different style of playing than in the League, more physical, more back and forth and I think it tests me, with other situations, another game. I think I’m getting better.”
More continuity in Valencia
His lack of minutes last season ended with his loan move to Valencia, where he enjoyed more continuity. Ché’s club tried to acquire his services at the end of the last summer market, but the deal collapsed in the final minutes of the transfer window.
“It is something that has already happened. Now I have to focus on where I am. At my club, Tottenham, give my best here and forget about something that has already happened.”
Despite this, the under-21 international could receive offers in the next winter market, to get more minutes in the second half of the campaign. “I’m focused on the present. I’m not thinking about the future. I’m focused on improving and playing as much as possible,” said the player from Cádiz.
