Brooks Koepka and Chase Koepka led the Smash to victory in Saturday’s semifinals to advance to final stage of the LIV Golf Teams Championship at Trump National Doral in Miami. It will be measured in the 4 Aces, the Stingers and the Punches.
Brooks Koepka beat Ian Poulter 3 and 1 and Peter Uihlein beat Lee Westwood 4 and 2 to lead the Smash at the Majestics. Jason Kokrak and Chase Koepka finished with a 3-0 lead by defeating Henrik Stenson and Sam Horsfield 1 in the foursomes match.
while, 4 Aces by Dustin Johnson and Stinger by Louis Oosthuizen they earned a bye into Saturday’s semifinals, avoiding play in Friday’s quarterfinals. Johnson won his match against Cleeks’ Shergo Al Kurdi, but the 4 Aces needed wins from Pat Perez and Talor Gooch in the foursomes to secure their victory.
The Stinger they also need four wins against the Crushers to advance. Oosthuizen beat Bryson DeChambeau 1 up to put the win on track.
The blow they fell behind when captain Cameron Smith fell to Sergio Garcia 2 and 1 in their match. But Marc Leishman beat Carlos Ortiz and Matt Jones and Wade Ormsby beat Abraham Ancer and Eugenio Chacarra 1 in the foursomes to clinch the win.
Sunday’s final round will use standard stroke play. All four players from each team will compete and everyone’s cards will count towards the team total. Whoever finishes with the lowest score wins the championship and $16 million of the $50 million prize pool.
