The DP World Tour 2023 will have a record prize pool of 144.2 million

Date:

Players on the DP World Tour of golf will compete in 2023 for a total prize fund of $144.2 million -besides the majors and the WGC-Match Play-, and includes an increase in the bonus pool of 6 million dollars for the first eight players in the final ranking of the old European circuit.

This was reported this Thursday by the DP World Tour itself, which added that as part of the total record prize fund, the 2023 season will also have a new Earnings Guarantee Program for players.

“Exempt players from categories 1 to 17 will be guaranteed a minimum income of $150,000 if they compete in 15 or more tournaments as part of the program agreed upon by the DP World Tour Tournament Committee last week,” addition of the circuit.

“Both the record prize pool, increased bonus pool and Earnings Guarantee Program are made possible by the DP World Tour’s joint venture operating partnership with the PGA Tour announced in June,” the circuit’s website underlines.

Keith Pelley, Executive Director of DP World Tour, commented: “For us, being able to offer our members a record prize pool and increased earning opportunities is huge.especially as global economies are still feeling the effects of the pandemic and the new challenge of rising inflation is putting significant cost pressure on all aspects of our business.”

Our global prize pool for the 2023 season represents $50 million more than in 2021 and it also underscores the strength of our partnership with the PGA Tour, which is working with us to drive revenue and a long-term growth plan.”

One of the many benefits we’ve introduced thanks to this partnership is the new Income Guarantee Program, much like they already have on the PGA Tour. I have always believed that it is an incredible achievement for any professional golfer just to earn their playing rights on the DP World Tour and this new initiative recognizes and rewards that achievement.”

Although we will never lose the magic of meritocracy and the purity of the performance-based structureit now offers guaranteed income to players who have risen to the top of the professional game in Europe,” said Pelley.

Also, with the DP World Tour record prize fund of $144.2 million including an increase in tournament prize funds for the first four Rolex Series tournaments of 2023.

The Abu Dhabi Championship, Dubai Desert Classic, Scottish Open and PGA Championship all go from $8 million in 2022 to $9 million next year, while the season-closing DP World Tour Championship will have a prize pool of 10 million dollars.
