The Rally Condroz-Huy It ended in the worst possible way. In the final part of the competition, one of the participating vehicles ran over two young spectators, killing them.
A 16-year-old girl and an 18-year-old boy were killed when their car went off the slippery ground. “He left the road, hit a parapet and remained on his side, when he hit a group of spectators who were in an area prohibited to the public,” said the organization’s official statement.
Now the investigations will focus on what position these people occupy and if they are in an area designated as prohibited.
The organization also reported that one of the occupants of the car and another person were also taken to a hospital but their integrity was not in danger.
After the official mourning was declared, the rally was suspended, canceling the final qualification and the final ceremony.
