The Armagh Ulster Championship prospect has been boosted with news of striker Ryan O’Neill’s participation in next weekend’s Championship match against Donegal in Balibofi.
The Crossmaglen player received a match ban proposal after a standoff with Donegal in Leterken at the end of a top-flight match last month.
In all, six players were suspended due to the incident, but O’Neill was only informed after Armag indicated their intention to appeal the bans on Aidan Nuent, Kieran McKinney and Stephen Campbell.
Donegal did not appeal the game disqualifications issued to defenders Neil McGee and Audrey McFadden-Ferry.
It is understood that O’Neill’s teammates are eagerly awaiting news of their resumption tonight (Monday), but O’Neill’s preparation significantly boosts Kieran McGinn’s squad as he has been their best player during an impressive Premier League season.
Orchard County needed a playoff win over Roscommon to stay in the top flight last season, but the season started with stunning wins over Dublin and Tyrone before finishing behind third-tier champions Kerry and Mayo.
Ballybofey will host the much-anticipated rematch between Armagh and Donegal on Sunday 24 April, before Ulster SFC kicks off this weekend, when the owners face Tyrone Fermanage at Brewster Park.
