Good news for Leipzig: Nkunku is training with the group

Good news for Leipzig: their French international striker Christopher Nkunku, who was injured seriously on November 15, he was able to practice a little with the group this Tuesday. Nkunku was injured before the World Cup in Qatar and he did not fulfill his dream of playing with the French team, ultimately runner-up after losing the final against Argentina (4-2 on penalties after a 3-3 draw).

This return of Nkunku happened two weeks before of Manchester City’s visit to Leipzig in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16, on February 22. When he was injured, the French striker was the top scorer in the Bundesliga, with 12 goals, and now, after these months of inactivity, he is the second, after Niclas Füllkrug (from Werder Bremen, with 13).

On November 15, a day before flying with France to Qatar, in the final training session of the ‘bleus’ at the Clairefontaine facilities, Nkunku suffered a torn external ligament of the left knee. His place on the list was taken by Randal Kolo Muani (Eintracht Frankfurt).
