Manchester United have been unable to find consistency this season, but this time they left Old Trafford angrier over a controversial refereeing decision than a bitter defeat against Crystal Palace.
The Red Devils were trailing on the scoreboard when the controversial play occurred. It was in the second half when United claimed a penalty for a handball by Joel Ward but the referee of the match, Chris Kavanagh, did not interpret it that way. Bruno Fernandez put a great ball into the area for Rashfrod and the Palace full-back, who was not looking at the ball, accidentally but clearly hit him with his hand, away from the body, and Rashford was stopped in graduation
United players quickly surrounded the referee and Old Trafford erupted in anger, but after VAR was consulted the referee’s decision was not changed.
