Primoz RoglicSlovenian team runner Jumbo-Vismaa team with which he would not continue the following season-, winning the 106th victory Giro dell’Emiliaa 204.1 kilometer test run between Carpi and San Luca, surpassing his compatriot Tadej Pogacar.
Roglic reached the final kilometer with a group of six other runners and attacked with 200 meters to go, leaving behind his rivals, which also included Pogacar and the British Adam Yates, who was third; other favorites such as the Spanish Enric Mas or the Ecuadorian Olympic champion Richard Carapaz. It was the culmination of a series of attempted attacks between the leaders, which came together with less than ten kilometers to go.
Earlier, with around 30 contenders, a group of eight members was formed, including the Spaniard Marcel Camprubí (Q36.5) and had a lead of two and a half minutes. It ended in a breakaway, with Italians Christian Scaroni (Astana) and Mattia Bais (EOLO-Kometa) last caught up with 39 kilometers to go.
In this way, Roglic achieved his third victory in this race after winning it in 2019 and 2021 and beat Enric Mas in the record, the only Spaniard who won the last victory with Iván Gutiérrez in 2003.
