Bayern is more important than PSG

In this results-oriented world, it is impossible to imagine that there will be no crisis in Munich or Paris from March, when Bayern or PSG are not in the Champions League. The exciting crossover brings together the two clubs with the most commercial revenue in the 2020-21 season, the last on record. The Bavarian team reached a turnover of 345 million euros to the 337 of its French rival, almost a technical tie.

A KPMG study, however, suggests that Bayern is more valuable than PSG in global terms. Specifically, about a billion more: 2,621 for the Parisian entity’s 1,754. The crisis due to the pandemic, which compromised everyone’s accounts, only made it 4% in the case of Bayern. In PSG, 15%. A remarkable difference that also explains the stability that has existed at the Allianz Arena for many years.

In that sense, if we expand the financial focus to the total income of one and the other, Bayern is more than PSG. According to a report by Deloitte, the Munich side has consistently generated more revenue per year than Paris since the latter reached the elite in 2011, when Qatar confirmed its takeover of the club. In their favor, however, it should be noted that since 2018 they have included 28 new sponsors.

Finally, we must also refer to two important sources of income for both: ticketing and television rights. Regarding tickets, PSG charges more than Bayern despite the fact that the Parc des Princes has less capacity than the Allianz Arena (48,000 seats for 75,000). Bayern, on the other hand, generates more than 50 million euros more than PSG in the audiovisual matter and confirms that, as a club, it is still one step ahead of its rival.
