Jill Teichmann and Belinda Bencic sealed the first win for the Swiss team in Billie Jean Kin Cupg by defeating Iralia in two singles matches, on the first day of Group A, which is completed by Canada.
In the absence of a doubles confrontation that establishes the final result of the duel, Teichmann and Bencic got the point for the team they captained. Heinz Guenthardt.
Teichmann opened the session, which was defeated Elizabeth Cocciaretto in a match of more than three hours and resolved in three sets (3-6, 6-4 and 7-6 (5)).
The transalpine team, the only participant with all players located in the first hundred of the WTA ranking, could not balance the situation because Belinda Bencic lost Jasmine Paulini in the meeting of two number one teams.
The Olympic champion won 7-5 and 6-3 in one hour and forty minutes to ensure victory for the current runner-up in the competition.
The final result will be determined in the doubles duel between the Swiss Bencic and Teichmann against Lucia Bronzetti and Martina Trevisan.
