louis van gaal, coach of the Netherlands, announced this Friday the list of players for the team that will go to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, and included as a great novelty. Xavi Simons and Jeremie Frimpong, who was never part of the Orange team.
Players on the list include midfielder Simons (PSV Eindhoven), defender Frimpong (Bayer Leverkusen), as well as Nathan Aké (Manchester City), Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool Football Club) and Matthijs de Ligt (Bayern de Munich).
Goalkeepers Justin Bijlow (Feyenoord), Remko Pasveer (Ajax) and Andries Noppert (sc Heerenveen) will also go to Qatar.
13 players selected on the provisional list dropped out, including Jasper Cillessen, who last summer swapped Valencia for NEC Nijmegen to increase his chances of participating in the World Cup in Qatar.
So far Cillessen has played 63 games with the orange team, but he missed the last European Championship due to a positive for the coronavirus.
The players will meet in Zeist, in the province of Utrecht, next Monday, where they will complete a training session on Dutch soil, and a day later, the team will fly to Doha. The orange team will debut in the World Cup against Senegal on November 21.
