Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic assured this Friday, a few days before the start of the ATP finals to be held in Turin, that he is not “young” like the rest of his rivals who have to be measured from Sunday.
At the age of 35, Djokovic will have a chance to win his sixth trophy. He lifted the latter in 2015. Later, he played in two more finals, in 2016 and 2018. Now, he will try to add another ATP final to his resume to match Swiss Roger Federer’s six crowns, although he knows that he is not so young as in previous years
“I don’t feel as young as the others. It’s been a while since my first appearance, but I think I’m in good shape. Particularly in the last four or five months. I’ve won Wimbledon and most of the tournaments I’ve had under roof before the World Tour finals”, he said in statements collected by the organization.
Also, he acknowledged waiting “with great anticipation” for the start of the tournament and noted that he has “experience” in the ATP finals format, so it will help him “in some ways.”
“This is the last week of the year in the Tour, it’s a kind of last sprint, so to speak, for all of us. From the first game you have to have a very high intensity, so each of us is trying to prepare as much as possible. best possible. But we also try to enjoy these few days before the tournament starts,” he said.
“I’m motivated and I really want a challenge. I think the intensity is going to be very high, from the blocks I have to concentrate as if I were playing finals. Every game is going to be like this”, he concluded.
