Borussia Dortmund plan to hold talks with Jude Bellingham after the Qatar 2022 World Cup about the future of the coveted English midfielder. Borussia Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke admitted they could not offer Bellingham the same conditions as more financially powerful clubs.
This is what Watzke said in statements published this Sunday by Bild TV, the television channel of Germany’s main tabloid. Bellingham, who will participate in the World Cup with the English team, is currently one of the sensations of world football.
“We will have talks now, as soon as the (World Cup in) Qatar is over, and then we’ll have a basic conversation about what you want.”said Watzke about the English international media, who arrived at Borussia Dortmund from Birmingham City.
“You just have to tell us if you want to stay or leave. In both cases, we will talk about it in a friendly and reasonable way. In general, we can imagine that he will stay with us, but we cannot act as if this issue is not on the table,” added the Borussia Dortmund manager.
Watzke continued: “If he (Bellingham) says ‘I want to do something else’, then the really big clubs in Europe will be there. and we can’t afford to fight financially.” One of Bellingham’s main suitors is Real Madrid.
Bellingham, 19 years oldis a member of Borussia Dortmund since 2020 and He has a contract that runs until 2025. The midfielder has made 17 appearances for England, including 9 of the last 10.
