During a visit to the offices of his personal sponsor, Pont Grup, where he met the workers of Malaga’s insurance brokerage, Sergio Garcia Dolls He commented on the season just ended where with GasGas Aspar, his team from the last two campaigns in Moto3, they signed double riders with Izan Guevara and the three possible titles, and his first sensations in Moto2 controls from the Sito Pons team, where he will compete in the 2023 World Cup.
The Burriana rider appreciates the effort in the fight for the Moto3 title in a season in which he led the general classification of the World Championship for four and a half months: “It was one of the hardest and most difficult years of my sporting career, but in the end we were able to advance it. It’s true that we want the title, but a runner-up would be nice. Fighting for second place, getting three podiums in a row at the end of the year, I think it’s a good assessment to close a phase and start a new one in Moto2”.
The man from Castellón tested the Moto2 Kalex in Cheste with good feelings “The day I tried it I felt comfortable. There are some details to improve but I think we can do well in the tests. Now I’m focused on improving those things, like gaining muscle mass and training with more intensity”.
Regarding the goals in 2023 with the FlexBox HP 40 team, Sergio is cautious but excited “The goal is to learn, give 100% in the races and at the end of the season fight for a podium or a victory. The winning a race in the intermediate category would be magical, especially in one of the Spanish circuits. We have to work hard and it will be difficult, but I’m sure we can achieve it”.
For Sergio, the Moto2 grid will be familiar to him for next season. There will be a change of motorcycle and category, but we are more or less the same rider”.
