The Goyeneche Auditorium of Spanish Olympic Committee (COE) This Thursday has been the center of Olympic journalism. The media, photographers, news agencies, communications directors of the Spanish federations, athletes and journalism students gathered at the headquarters of the Olympic entity to witness the I International Congress of Olympic Journalism.
A day organized by the Spanish Olympic Committee, in collaboration with Superior Sports Councilwhere the scope of Olympic Games from different parts of the world of national and international press.
The President of the EOC, Alexander WhiteIn his speech, he assured that “in Spain We can be proud of the moment that Spanish sport is experiencing, of the athletes, coaches, clubs and federations, but we also have to be proud of the journalists and photographers”.
And before ending, he wants to launch a challenge to the attendees: “Sa Paris 2024 we need to be the first country in the world in communication. I want the Spanish press to have great success and make us known all over the world”.
The event featured a first master class by lucia montanarelladeputy director of press operations for the Olympic Games of International Olympic Committee (IOC)Y Roddie McVake, representative of the Olympic Information Service of the International Olympic Committee. The other ‘masterclass’ of the day was given by Alvaro AlonsoOlympics Global Social Media Manager, social media expert for the International Olympic Committee.
In this first edition of the International Congress of Olympic Journalism, three round tables were held with the participation of great journalists, photographers, communication directors and athletes from our country.
The written press became one of the main characters of the round tables, with the participation of the deputy director of World of Sports David Llorens beside Gerardo Riquelme (Brand), Jesus Minguez (AS newspaper), Carlos Arribas (The country), Jose Miguelez (ABC) and Miguel Serrano (Ok Diary).
All of them addressed the way to cover the Games, taking into account how times have changed and that now it is not only necessary to carry out a paper edition, but also a digital one, the ease is one of the most important factors.
