“I will continue” – Minister broke out in tears in parliament

Date:

Tears flowed in the British parliament on Wednesday. Great -Britain, Minister of Finance Rachel Reeves, cried in the Lower House – which raised many questions. Now the politician commented on her outbreak of emotions.

“People saw that I was upset, but that was yesterday,” Reeves explained to journalists on Thursday, “today is a new day and I will just keep going with my work.”

The situation had taken place in the British House of Commons on Wednesday. According to media reports, the Minister of Finance cried for about half an hour during a debate. Reeves sat next to Prime Minister Keir Strandmer. According to his own statements, the latter had not noticed the minister’s tears next to him. He was too focused on the questions, Starmer said afterwards.

“Was a personal matter”
In British media it was surprised why the minister had cried. The Labor politician himself did not want to say what this violent outbreak made emotion. “It was a personal matter and I will not respond to the details. That would not be good and not fair,” said Reeves.

According to reports there had been a fight between Reeves and Lindsay Hoyle, the spokesperson for the British House of Lower House, shortly before the debate in the Lower House. However, the Minister of Finance said that there was no connection between the dispute and their tears.

Minister does not want to resign
Reeves also made it clear that she would not resign – there had been suspicions. “Is this task simple? Is it easy to renovate the economy? No, it is not. It is difficult, but I will continue,” the politician said combative. Earlier, Straßer did not want to guarantee that Reeves would remain in his government until the next elections.

The minister had recently come under pressure due to failed social cuts. These leave a gap of the equivalent of almost 5.8 billion euros in the Reeves budget plans – which brought the Minister of Finance into discussions.
