Randri García’s men receive Tenerife under the illusion of opening their locker after conceding eight consecutive defeats

Alhama CF ElPozo wrote history last season and was promoted to the highest division after a spectacular season. And for this reason, this Friday, December 2, they will receive the award of “Alhameños of the Year” for their promotion to the first division of Spanish women’s football (Liga F), a recognition given every year since 1992 by the radio station Cope Espuña .

Among other accolades, within the world of sports, the recognitions that will be made to another set of sports-related neighbours, such as José Carlos Ruiz ‘Pani’, for his Spanish record for altitude gain with paragliding achieved in the Sierra Nevada; Elena Romero Gómez, for winning the gold medal in the inclusive relay modality in the Spanish triathlon championship; Luis Sánchez Navarro, for taking the silver medal in the National BTT Enduro Championship; and Víctor Pagán Torralba, since he was named best Preferred Territorial coach in the Region of Murcia last season.

On a strictly sporting level, Randri García’s team will receive UDG Tenerife tomorrow at noon at the José Kubala de Alhama. It is a decisive game, as the Alhameñas have not won a single First Division game yet and are the red lantern of the national standings, with 0 points. The Azulonas have dropped in the table with their eight defeats in as many games, but they are not off the hook as they are close to Alavés, with two points, and Villarreal, who marks the lifeline with four points.

“The reality is we don’t have any points, but in all games we’ve had options to add one or even all three. You have to change the dynamic and show the players that they are First Class and that the results will come. We will fight all the problems that arise,” said the coach of the Alhameño team yesterday.

“We are down there, but not that far from the target, and we retain an incredible illusion and the idea of starting to add once and for all,” said a Randri who is “optimistic”. He doesn’t see the team delivering, far from it, despite the eight defeats in a row on their difficult debut in the First Division. “If we continue on this path and don’t give up, the results will come. Best of all is the encouragement and desire of the players,” he added. Érika Sastre and Lucía Ramírez are out, while Olivia Oprea returns.
