Miguel Diaz president of the Royal Spanish Tennis Federation (RFET), is in Turin (Italy), on the occasion of the ATP Finals, to meet with the president of this association, Andrea Gaudenzi, “and continue to deepen the possibility that the highest body of Spanish tennis has the property of the tournament” of this circuit.
This was said by RFET itself, which added that, “after the success of the Gijón Open, Díaz defined the clear strategy of RFET for the coming years. ‘We have created the best professional tennis calendar in the world. Now we have to combine it with an ATP tournament and another WTA'”, he assured.
The meeting was also attended by two ATP vice presidents, Ross Hutchins and Geoffroy Bourbonas well as the director of the Gijón Open, Thomas Carbonelland the general director of RFET, Lawrence Martinez, added the Spanish federation.
“The top leaders of the ATP and the RFET have agreed to continue talking about the possibility that the Spanish leader is being pursued to combine the ownership of a week in the ATP circuit,” the agency said.
