Sports Writing, Nov 23 (EFE).- Rafael Lozano from Cordoba won this Wednesday the first medal in history for Spain in the youth boxing World Championships, by hanging the bronze in the category up to 48 kilos that they contested in La Nucía (Alicante).
The 18-year-old Andalusian boxer lost in the semifinals to Filipino Ronel Suyom, putting him out of contention for the gold, but giving him at least one of the bronze medals at stake.
To reach the semifinals and earn a metal, Lozano defeated Thai Thitiwat Phlongaurai in the quarterfinals on Monday.
Rafael Lozano Jr is the son of a double Olympic medalist in 1996 and 2000 and is currently the Spanish coach. At the age of 18, she has accumulated various medals such as the gold won in the European category.
