The city of Barcelona will once again be the capital of athletics this Sunday with the Jean Bouin-Gran Premio Allianzwhich celebrates its 99th edition, true to its original proposal to embrace all athletics stadiums on the same athletic morning.

The Clásica Atlética de MD program includes its traditional poster of 15 races in 21 categoriesbetween school tests and promotion, the two Opens, of 5 and 10 kilometers, and the international event, which once again presents an outstanding group of athletes, bringing together more than 10,000 runners in all ages and physical levels at Montjuïc .

The starting gun – on a morning expected to be cool first thing in the morning, with a minimum of 8ºC and a maximum of 16ºC and the presence of cloudy skies – will be given at 09.00 by two famous Openings of 5 and 10 kilometers. Both start at Avinguda Maria Cristina de Montjuïc, although they have different outcomes.

While the 5K ends at the Arc de Triomf, in a finale tinged with romanticism, since the first edition of La Bouin, 1920, ended in this monument after leaving Esplugues de Llobregat; La Bouin’s ‘elder’ sister returns to the magical mountain, and she does it this year with a clearer route at the end so that the outcome of the trial is not so uphill.

Probably the greatest emotion and enthusiasm is given by the youth in the ten races for children under 18 years of age.not to mention the spectacle of the international event, where the athletes have to do several laps on the tough Montjuïc circuit: 2 (6,600 m) for women and 3 (9,900 m) for men.

In the men’s category, the presence stands out, among others, of Santiago Catrofe –3rd last year– and Dani Mateo –coming from being 4th in the Spanish Cross Country Championship–., and Meritxell Soler –2nd in 2021 and who this year was declared Catalan half marathon champion– and Esther Guerrero –3rd in 2021 and one of the athletes who went through all the Bouin categories after his debut with nine years old– in women, in the great celebration of Spanish athletics par excellence. You win at Bouin.
