The navy, together with Italy, receives the invitations for the final phase of 2023

The International Tennis Federation (ITF) on Sunday issued an invitation to Spain and Italy to play the final stage of the 2023 Davis Cup, so that they do not have to play the qualifying play-offs.

In this way, the Spanish team ensures its presence in the next group stage of the tournament, which will take place from September 12 to 17, 2023, between the cities of Bologna (Italy), Glasgow (Scotland), Hamburg (Germany) and Valencia (Spain).

A total of 24 teams play the final stages of the tournament, four of which have already qualified; This year Spain and Italy are the guests, with Australia and Canada as finalists. The invites have been promoted by the character of hosts from Spain and Italy, with Valencia and Bologna left out of the race, with Britain and Germany set to earn their places in the February 4-5 qualifiers. Two members of the ITF and two more from Kosmos, Gerard Piqué’s company that puts money into the tournament, were responsible for choosing the invited countries.

Croatia, France, the United States, Germany, Great Britain, Serbia, Kazakhstan, Belgium, Sweden, the Netherlands, Argentina and the Czech Republic will start as seeded players in the draw that will take place next Sunday for the play-offs of the final phase of the tournament. These teams will compete against the unseeded teams, consisting of Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Chile, Colombia, Finland, Hungary, South Korea, Norway, Portugal, Slovakia, Switzerland and Uzbekistan.

As happened this year, the Davis Cup Group Stage will be played between the four venues mentioned above, while the Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals and Grand Final will be played at the Martín Carpena Pavilion in Malaga.
