The Turkish football federation (TFF) condemned the violence that halted Sunday’s second division match after a fan attacked a goalkeeper with a corner flag and spectators were injured by firecrackers.
Local media reported that the match was between goztepe Y Tall and it was suspended midway through the first half after fireworks were launched at Goztepe supporters, requiring ambulances to enter the field to treat injured fans.
Videos on social media show a fan running across the pitch during stoppage time and attacking Altay goalkeeper Ozan Evrim Ozenc from behind, before being pinned down by players and security staff.

“We condemn the incidents that took place in the match between Goztepe and Altay in Izmir and the cowardly attack on Altay goalkeeper Ozenc,” TFF said in a statement.
“While we wish a speedy recovery to the injured football fans, we also wish a speedy recovery to Altay goalkeeper Ozan Evrim Özenç, who was subjected to the violence of the attacker who entered the field.”
